Vows
A façade of a family
That’s what you wanted
Praise for your show and tell project
Empty meaningless words
Arid eyes
Bruised knuckles
Sorry is as sorry does
you should know better than anyone
But it’s a little too late for sorry.
A real family
That’s what we wanted
That was the agreement
Our signatures were on the dotted line
The powerlessness of faith
Only teary eyes and sodden pillows.
Misplaced trust,
Dashed hopes,
And shattered dreams.
